Saturday, August 3rd, 2019 - 24th Annual Deaf Awareness Day

Six Flags New England has opened again this year!
and Deaf Awareness Day is bbbbaaaaccccckkk for 24th year!

Deaf Awareness Committee have tickets if you are interested in buying and go there.
Help us spread the words about the Deaf Awareness Day at Six Flags on Saturday, Aug. 3rd, 2019. 

Tickets are on sale for $39.00 (Flat rate) per person. 
We will have a booth on Saturday, August 4th - Deaf Awareness Day at Six Flags that you can meet and buy the tickets and go in Six Flags and have fun.

If you are not able to go on August 3rd, no problem!
 The tickets are good now through December 2019 (Halloween Fright Night and Holiday in the Park event).

Where can you buy tickets? - Center for Living & Working, Inc in Worcester.OR Viability in Holyoke.

All proceeds go to Educational Scholarship (Thank you all for your support!)

2018 Educational Scholarship information


The Massachusetts Deaf Awareness Committee has created the Educational Scholarship.  This scholarship is primarily for Massachusetts residents who want to develop leadership skills, receive continuing education, or gain and develop personal/professional growth. A number of awards will be presented.  The winners will be chosen based on a written essay or signed videotape.  A total of $1,500 will be divided amongst the winners during the fiscal year of January 1, 2018 – December 31, 2018.  The amount a candidate is awarded will depend on the financial support needed. This program is made possible through our annual fundraiser held at Six Flags-New England.

The Educational Scholarship can be used for:
  • College (undergraduate students—application deadline June 15th)
  • Overnight Camp
  • Day Camp
  • Workshops
  • Continuing Education
  • Conferences

This scholarship cannot be used for purchasing equipment of any kind (electronics, audio/visual/ video equipment etc.).

Criteria for Participants:

  • Deaf
  • Hard of Hearing
  • Late-deafened
  • Deaf-Blind

If you would like to apply for this scholarship to attend a Deaf Camp, please send an essay and two recommendation letters no later than June 1, 2018.

 

Requirements

  • Type a full one-page essay (double-spaced) or sign on a videotape or CD/DVD (3 minute limit): Why you think you should receive the Educational Scholarship, and what you plan to do with it.  

  • Two recommendation letters—required (written or videotaped)

  • Include your name, address, telephone number and email address for us to contact you if you are awarded a scholarship.

  • If you receive a scholarship, you are strongly encouraged to volunteer at the Six Flags event on August 4, 2018 for two hours.

  • This scholarship is for new candidates. If you have received a scholarship in the past, please do not apply again.
